The
industrial variant of Spectra-node shares many common components with the precison
version, but is configured with our extensive range of Spectra-msi industrial measurement
and control modules, including specialised high voltage withstand variants. It is
particularly suited to applications within power generation and other critical process
industries where high levels of integrity and reliability need to be maintained in the
harshest of electrical environments.
The
system is equipped with an embedded processor module with ethernet connectivity to allow
the connection of multiple PC hosts to one or more Spectra-nodes. Customers may choose
from a standard range of data acquisition and SCADA software to undertake plant
monitoring, alarm and event logging. For users wishing to develop their own applications,
a ‘C’ toolkit, DLL’s and VI’s are available to allow integration into
various computer and software systems.
The Analogue Measurement sub-system includes a fully floating precision amplifier, 16 bit ADC with programmable integration techniques and multiple precision calibration reference sources. In addition, input modules incorporate high isolation, low thermal switching technology and the option of high voltage withstand capabilities. Collectively these techniques overcome the wide ranging common and series mode noise encountered in industrial environments and ensure measurement performance to the highest possible standard.
Input modules for use with
thermocouples are particularly advanced and where required provide junction compensation
by measurement of the thermocouple junction at the connector panel.
Modules
can also incorporate loop resistance and earth leakage testing to check for open circuits
and detection of thermocouple degradation. This is of particular benefit in those
industries with bulk thermocouple installations whereby the power of the data acquisition
system can be used to monitor the health of such installations without recourse to the
time consuming and costly overheads of more traditional manual methods.
Spectra-node
offers a fully supportive range of digital and miscellaneous I/O modules to undertake
plant status, alarm annunciation and analogue and digital control functions. Where
required, interfacing to other manufacturers hardware can also be undertaken.
Spectra-node
offers a range of crate and cabinet assemblies. A choice of plant terminations are
available, offering industry standard Klippon assemblies or purpose designed termination
panels, including a high performance isothermal version for thermocouples. Connection to I/O modules is achieved by rugged
industrial connectors with LED indication to give visual confirmation of correct connector
positioning.
